Liver is the largest gland in the human body with numerous functions such are metabolic, etoxifying, regulation of glucose and cholesterol in blood, bile secretion, keeping of the acid-base balance as in immune system, producing the coagulation factors.

Liver can be damaged by viruses, toxins, medications. Liver diseases can be divided into infective and non infective. Viral hepatitis is liver inflammation caused by damaging liver cells. It is caused by viruses type A,B,C,D,E and G but it can also be caused by Cytomegalovirus, Epstein-Barr virus, herpes simplex, adeno.

My article shows a treatment of patients with viral hepatitis caused by Cytomegalovirus and Epstein-Barr virus. As a result of virus attack it comes to dysfunction of liver structure which leads to its function imbalance.

Due to its size, the liver is very rich in enzymes, so the minimal change of hepatocytes permeability has a consequence in changing the concentration of constituents of liver cells in plasma.

Therefore, determination of enzyme activity in plasma serves as screening test to detect various liver diseases. It is a sensitive marker of liver disorder of permeability parenchyma liver cells is followed through the increase of activities of: Aspartate aminotransferase (AST),
 Alanine aminotransferase (ALT),
Gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT),
Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH),
whose  level
of increase refers to a sensitive index of hepatocyte necrosis, disturbed cell integrity and the specific parameters of hepatocellular damage.

During the treatment, besides the general therapy (resting) and correct, well
individualized, nutrition, I used the following bee products: honey, pollen, royal jelly and propolis.

Bee products, with their structure of simple sugars such are glucose and fructose, helps the creation and storage of glycogen in the liver.

It is especially important the presence of enzymes that all bee products have (invertase, diastase, catalase, etc.).

Next to other macro and oligo elements the presence of Phosphorus (P) it’s also
important, because it plays an important role in chemical processing of glucose. The presence of essential amino acids and flavonoids it’s also important.

Propolis
through its antiviral compounds gives good results in the treatment of viral hepatitis. With the use of bee products, liver has fantastic regeneration speed. After 20 or 30 days value of enzymes in serum comes to normal level. Values of enzymes should be monitored 6 months more, in some cases even longer.
Key words: liver (enzymes), honey, pollen, propolis, royal jelly.
